What is a textile experience?
It can be anything you want it to be. There’s something quietly magical about working with fabric and thread. Textile art invites us to slow down, quiet the noise, and make something with our hands. Through simple, approachable sewing and quilting experiences, participants can relieve stress, discover the joy of a new hobby, and connect with others stitch by stitch. Whether creating side by side or contributing to a shared piece, these experiences turn fabric into a space for creativity, connection, and a little time to breathe.

Every experience can be customized for your audience, event, space, time, curriculum, and goals. You don't have to choose one of these exactly, but here are some ideas.

Your First Stitch
A welcoming introduction to hand sewing for absolute beginners. Participants learn a few simple techniques and leave with something they've made themselves. Hand sew small scraps of fabric to create small quilts, potholders, bookmarks, key rings, baggies and learn the basics.
Quilting Without a Machine
Discover the fundamentals of quilting using only fabric, needle, and thread. A fun introduction for anyone who's ever thought, “I'd love to try quilting, but I don't know where to start.”

A calming introduction to hand sewing designed to help participants slow down, focus, and take a break from the everyday. No experience necessary.

A gentle, meditative textile experience where simple repetitive stitches become a way to relax, reset, and be present.

Community Quilt
A group works together to create a textile artwork inspired by a shared place, theme, organization, or experience. Perfect for community events, conferences, and celebrations. An experience about connection, community, and creating something greater together.
Threads of Connection
Participants use fabric, color, and simple stitching to explore what connects them to one another. Great for team-building and community-building events. Imagine a team retreat where participants are each given a small piece of fabric and invited to choose a color that represents something meaningful to them—a person, place, value, memory, or shared experience. They add simple hand stitches to their fabric, then connect their piece to others to create a collaborative textile artwork. What begins as separate pieces becomes a tangible reminder that we are all part of something larger than ourselves.
