Going All In
So many things have been happening in my art world lately that it has been hard to keep up with everything. Which is a good problem to have. In the past month I:
finished a quilt commission
won an award at Built to Last exhibit at The Peale in Baltimore
started writing and testing a class for quilters
dropped a quilt for U.S. of Art, an upcoming exhibit at the Delaplaine in Frederick
have my quilts in a huge billboard in Baltimore
went to Oak Spring to pick up the fabrics for my next commission
Next month I will
go to the Virginia Quilt Museum for the opening of Stitching Together History
make quilt samples and videos and deliver everything for the exhibit Tomorrow the Sun Will Rise at the Phillips Collection in August
and the issue of QuiltFolk where I’m featured, comes out
Everything is going great in my art world. Now my employment world is not going so great. For those of you new here, I was "DOGEed" (laid off after the government restructuring), and I have been applying and interviewing everywhere with no luck for over a year. I am not going to let this get me down. It is an opportunity to do what I’m really passionate about. The world is telling me that I should concentrate my energy on making this art business work. I’m going to listen and I’m going to make it work. I will pursue bigger opportunities, I will teach, I will give talks, I will create amazing art. Here I go. Art world, get ready!
