Frederick Douglass Bridge

I finished this quilt last year but I made it as a commission for the Cedar Hill Medical Center in Washington DC and I couldn’t post pictures online until the Center opened. It finally open last month and I went to see it.

They saw my architecture quilts and asked for something related to the community around the Center. The Frederick Douglass Bridge is a very cool new bridge right outside the Center and I had to use it as my inspiration.

I am so happy with how it came out. It looks like a happy quilt. That is exactly what I wanted. Being in the hospital is so hard and I want my quilt to bring a little smile to those that pass by. The water is made up of recycled men's shirts.
