What’s the use?
All the quilts in my series Not What I Taught You are a little controversial. They are not pretty flowers or peaceful landscapes. I am a little nervous about showing them because I don’t like confrontation but what is art if it is not meant to make you think? I just finished a quilt that I know everyone will agree with the message no matter what your political beliefs are. Today we can’t agree on anything. If one side says the sky is blue the other side has to disagree. You didn’t think it was possible for both sides to agree on one thing. Well, I found that thing!
It is one of my first 3D interactive pieces. Looking at it from the front may not make much sense. The magic happens when you walk around the quilt. I finished this quilt awhile ago but it has been hard to take a good picture of it.
I got the idea from Caryl Bryer Fallert’s High Tech Tuck series.
I plan to make this into a diptych so there is more to the story but this half of the work is finished and I wanted to show you. It is good to make a quilt that I know will unite everyone!
